This fourth chapter is costing me more than I expected and is much larger, so I decided to hang in various parts saturate not reading the blog. If finally no becomes much longer will editare in this single post. Enjoy it.
Chapter Four (Part 1) : The sacred lake
Although climate stability offered by this part of the planet and the pleasant weather in the vicinity of the oasis, once year year, and for seventy days, the groundwater that supplied that paradise had retreated inside it, punishing outdoor areas with what they called "The lethargy of the sacred lake." The people of the two suns shared the belief that the large lake located in the center of the oasis had to rest once every cycle and therefore sleep waters collected during this period.
At least during the first two weeks could survive in the water reservoir, but during this time it was necessary that several items went into the oasis to collect holy water from the lake itself. These caravans came and went on trips that lasted fourteen days, seven and seven-way back, actually the trip lasted 5 days but occupied two vessels refuel and replenish the strength for the return trip.
At our first stop we stopped at one of the interior settlements where the frantic pace of life was a constant. It had been several months since my last visit to a company and I see that not only continued to represent the antithesis of the people of the two suns that I knew, but it progressively and exponentially away from the simplicity and tranquility that passed my hosts. Their society was evolving into a complex web of norms and values \u200b\u200bin a way self-conscious freedom in subtle aspects of their daily lives, and had even started using the currency as a payment system. Also I could see the rapid technological advances that were achieved in a few months, autonomous vehicles, generators and communicators based on radio waves and many other devices that appeared to have come out of nowhere what was possible have achieved such a level of technology in such a short time?.
strangest thing was when I discovered that my companions were quite surprised if not shocked and outraged. They had heard rumors that some concentrations of the interior had abandoned the teachings of the ancients, which set aside the advanced technology and replaced by a simpler way of life that a rapid advance in technological development meant that they had to leave their planet because the wars and pollution they left uninhabitable. So when they found this binary system and decided to settle there, were determined to do everything possible so that past mistakes will not pursue in this new era of race. All were hidden advanced knowledge and avoided in any measure to transmit to future generations.
However, if such knowledge were lost in the sands of time what was possible inside the settlements had acquired so quickly?
That night while we we installed in the guest house, a refuge for travelers, it raised my concerns Da Frre and Durvin and apparently he had reached the same conclusion as I, the technological level showing that settlement did not appear to have been acquired naturally, rather looked as if someone or something would put all of those devices there overnight, but that feat was impossible, no one in the world had lost the knowledge to do, except of course myself, and what was unthinkable is that it was the responsibility of someone who came outside the planet, because I was the first in decades to visit and with the express permission of the council, so the only feasible explanation was that the knowledge that these people had acquired came from the planet itself, though the former were responsible for making away every vestige of their former society, or at least that's what I thought, the look and Durvin Da Frre asked about confirmed my suspicions. Frre
told me he had a story that had survived generations which recounted how some of the former did not agree that all knowledge, not only technological, but also history and culture would be lost completely, as to them would be as if they never existed, he was considered a kind of bloodless genocide. So this faction decided to store all the historical-cultural and hide it so that when the time was propitious and the company was ready enough to not make their own mistakes, evolve and achieve the golden age who lived before his apocalyptic disaster planet of origin.
All this, as I had Frre Da and Durvin, were stories that were told and embellished over generations and at no time had been considered to be true, but what if they were?
