Marrying At Great Lakes Naval Base

Digital Collections Online Dream of Spring

Happy 2010 to you all. Lauzen thank
send me the link I'm putting here in this post.
This is old Japanese scans of books that have been online recently by the University of Wisconsin.
The examples I show are all from the Japanese record Ohnuki Collection of eighteenth and nineteenth centuries the Ainu people アイヌ (now located north of the island of Hokkaido 北海道 mostly). The Ainu are the largest ethnic minority in Japan and have had a long history of colonization and cultural assimilation attempts by the majority Wa. In fact the collection that mention is made basically just made books the most important stages of colonization of the northern Japanese archipelago today.
The examples that I'm illustrating this post from the following books: Ezo-shi
虾 夷 志 (On the ezo, 1720) written by Arai 新 井 白石 Hakuseki ,

and ezo zusetsu Kita 北 虾 夷 図 说 (Illustrated Chronicle of the North ezo, 1855) written by Rinzen Mamiya 间 宫 伦 宗 (林 蔵) .

To learn more about the history of the Ainu people, I recommend you consult the book resistance Literature ainu women, written by researcher Yolanda Muñoz, and published by El Colegio de Mexico in 2008. It goes without saying that not only is the only work of its kind written in English, but one of the few worldwide research on the Ainu.
To examine the library can access the East Asian Collection, University of Wisconsin . It is undoubtedly a valuable source of historical information and research materials.
For those interested in the world of picture books and graphic, I highly recommend the blog BibliOdyssey . NOTE

虾 夷 Ezo was the name by which formerly was called the Ainu.
