Les posting here the announcement of a forthcoming conference on shunga to be held in London from 22 to 23 April this year. This is the largest conference (workshop) is done internationally on the subject so far, and that gathers the most important (little by others) shunga specialists worldwide and others who venture into new this new area of \u200b\u200bstudy.

The conference, which is part of a three-year project launched last year, aims to study and discuss different aspects of visual production, and pave the way for the great shunga display to be mounted in 2012 in the British Museum . These workshops also conceive the next publication of several volumes, from the results of the meetings. That exhibition scheduled for 2012 will be the largest on shunga , has mounted, and present first part of the largest collections in Japan and other countries.
In December last year was held in Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, the second of these sessions, which was accompanied by a small exhibition of some of the books shunga Hayashi collection, housed in the Art Research Center of that institution. Les

The main issues discussed at the next meeting in London considered some of the following:
How do these works with other genres that are not shunga ? Can this work be considered pornography, from any sense of the word? Who was the audience for these works? Why should production and consumption in Japan was so extensive? Among other questions.
